Imaginative Prayer Is Visualizing Reality

Imaginative Prayer

Heavenly Images.

Images of Jesus.

Do you use your imagination?

Imagination has gotten a bad reputation in recent times.
It has come to mean something “made up” when actually, we can’t even think without using our imaginations.
Just think about what’s in your hall closet right now.
Do you see a list of items on a piece of paper or do you see a picture in your mind of the coats and sweaters or whatever you have in your hall closet?
You are using your imagination. You didn’t make it up though…it’s real.
Think of a loved one. Do you get a list of all their attributes in black and white?
Or do you see a picture in your head…or maybe a movie in your mind complete with sounds of laughter.
I bet if you try real hard you can almost smell them and touch them in your movie.
You are using your imagination.
Does that mean you made it up? No…these are real things that you are recreating with your mind. If anything, it makes them more real to us.
Certainly more real than words on a piece of paper.
You are in your place…your praying place.
And in your mind you go to that favorite place.
The place where you feel secure.
Just close your eyes and imagine.
Looking into His eyes.
Hearing his voice.
You are sitting and talking to
You ask Him questions about life.
Sometimes He might tell you the answers.
But more often He just smiles at you and makes you feel such peace.
What if Jesus told you to call a friend that you haven’t talked to for years?
And what if when you made that call, you found out that that person had just suffered some terrible news and was so thankful for your call.
No, not at all. In fact, it happens all the time.
Through “Imaginative Prayer” many people are discovering that they can have a much deeper and closer relationship with Jesus.
This is not a new idea.
It is not “New Age”.
In fact it is very Biblical and very real. It’s not something we are making up. We are just recreating something in our minds to make it more real to us.
John 1: 14
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory…
Hebrews 1: 3
The Son is the radiance of Godʼs glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.
I John 1: 1-3
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched — this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life… has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us….
Luke 24: 39
Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.
II Corinthians 3: 14-18
But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil [in the mind/heart] is taken away.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate [katotripzō = behold and reflect an image] the Lordʼs glory, are being transformed into his image with ever–increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Heavenly Images-What Will Heaven Look Like?

Can you imagine what Heaven will be like?

Heavenly images? No one knows what Heaven will look like. One thing you can be sure of is that it will be more beautiful than anything we can imagine. But all we have for now is our imagination. And that’s OK. Imagination has gotten a bad rap in recent times. But when you really think about it, that’s how our brain works. When we think about anything we see pictures or images in our head. We actually run movies between our ears all the time. We don’t see things in “list” or “datasheet” view. For example if I ask you to think about what is in your bedroom closet, can you see a picture of the items in your closet? You don’t see a list of items on a piece of paper. We use our imaginations every day in very constructive ways. I like to imagine my dad in Heaven with Jesus. I have a picture of them together on my wall. I can see it right now between my ears. Is Heaven real? Yes. But then I believe in Jesus. Jesus said there is a Heaven. Jesus actually left his heavenly kingdom to come down to earth to give us a cure from the disease of sin so that if we just believe what he told us we can spend eternity in Heaven with him…just the way he always intended for us to do. It started in the Garden of Eden. God originally intended for us to live with him in the Garden and he still intends for us to live with him. Heaven or the Garden of Eden…”a rose by any other name”… Jesus also said he was going to prepare a place for us. Yes and when he comes back he will bring it with him. It says in Revelation that Jesus will create a new Heaven and a new Earth. That’s good news for me. It’s great to know that no matter what might happen to us here in this brief moment we have on Earth, we will all be back together again in Heaven. No more tears, no more sorrows. No disease, no hunger.
Thank you Jesus for Heavenly Images.

After All
You know I used to worry
About one thing and then another
Like what was going to happen
After all this life was over
Would I ever see my wife again?
My family or my friends
Or would I spend eternity
In dreadful loneliness
After all my trial and troubles
After all my tears
After all my doubts and worries
After all my fears
After all my time in this world
Where was I to go
And what’s the point of living after all
Then I found out about Jesus
And how he gave his life for me
And now he’s gone to prepare a place
and I no longer fear
Cause I know we’ll be together after all
After all my trial and troubles
After all my tears
After all my doubts and worries
After all my fears
After all my time in this world
I know where I will go
And I know we’ll be together after all
After all the years
After all the tears
I know we’ll be together after all
After all is said
After all is done
After all’s forgiven
I know we’ll be together after all.
